Warrenpoint WwTW, Co. Down

This was an Integrated Wastewater Framework project for NI Water to upgrade the existing treatment works at Warrenpoint to ensure discharge standards are in compliance with the Urban Waste Water Treatment Regulations and NI Environment Agency discharge standards. The original works consisted of preliminary treatment and secondary settlement facilities. This interim solution incorporated the upgrade of existing structures and provision of new tanks to improve efficiency of treatment and quality of discharge.

The scheme included construction of new storm water storage, inlet works, sludge return PS and provision of a standby generator. The majority of the existing works was retained and refurbished for the treatment process, including upward flow clarifiers, sludge tanks, control building, and aeration basins, with only the original inlet works to be decommissioned and demolished.
