Kesh WwTW has historic problems with offensive odours and failing to meet its Discharge Consent.
The Works is located close to housing, a hotel and a new marina. In order to further the potential development of the area the works, commissioned by NI Water, needed to be increased in size and the odour problem addressed.
The installation of two Sequential Batch Reactors was found to be the most cost effective system for the treatment of sewage at Kesh. An odour control system was provided to deal with any offensive odours from the sludge holding tanks. An enclosed package inlet works including a grease removal system was also installed.
A temporary mobile treatment plant was installed to enable the existing treatment process to be maintained during construction of the new plant and treatment works within the confines of the existing site at Kesh.
