Radisson Hotel & Office Block, Cromac Wood, Belfast

This combined 4-star 200 bedroom hotel and office development, which was undertaken for the Radisson SAS Group, was constructed using the Design & Build method of procurement. Doran Consulting provided the structural and civil engineering services within the Design & Build team. This was a fast-track project which opened just over 2 years after commencement of the project.

The design for the hotel incorporates a 5-storey bedroom wing, 8-storey tower and a single storey podium, housing ancillary and back-of-house facilities. The structure consists primarily of an in situ concrete frame supported on piled foundations with pre-cast plate floors. The ground floor restaurant, 5th floor frame, plant room and roof elements are constructed in structural steelwork.

The 6-storey office development is comprised of an in situ concrete frame with precast concrete floors founded on pre-cast concrete driven piles. The office development was commissioned after work had started on the hotel but was required to be completed along with the hotel. To achieve this, the design was carried out in 6 weeks.
