Law Society House, Belfast
Doran Consulting was commissioned to provide civil and structural engineering design services for this 6-storey city centre commercial office complex to house the headquarters of the solicitors’ regulatory and representative body, the Law Society of Northern Ireland, as well as providing additional commercial office space.
The new building is situated beside the Bar Library and therefore required a high quality design in keeping with its surroundings, and carefully co-ordinated planning throughout the construction phase.
The building consisted of a reinforced concrete flat slab construction to the fourth floor, with the upper floors constructed from a braced steel frame. The concrete structure is supported on CFA piled foundations with the basement formed by means of a secant piled wall. The basement area is also used for car parking.
