Colby House, Belfast

Doran Consulting were appointed as Civil and Structural Engineering designers for the reconfiguration of the office accommodation at Colby House.  The works included the complete replacement of the external envelope and the construction of an extension at the main entrance.  A new access bridge leads to the main entrance, the undercorft of which houses bicycle parking and staff welfare facilities.

Internally a full refurbishment of the building was complete to provide 34,500 square feet of Grade A office accommodation.  This included the refurbishment of the existing landings and stairwells and the addition of a new pitched roof.

A new drainage system was designed and installed, and site wide re-surfacing and kerbing works were carried out.

The site is in close proximity to residential areas.  Care was taken throughout the works to minimise any potential negative impacts and to engage with local residents to address any issues that arose.
