Doran Consulting were appointed by NI Water as project and technical managers on the WTW Base Maintenance East project. The water treatment works (WTWs) involved were Carran Hill, Clay Lake, Dorisland, Killylane, Drumaroad, Fofanny, Dungonnell and Altnahinch.
The purpose of this project was to maintain and improve serviceability and quality levels of the NIW Water Treatment Works across the east of Northern Ireland. This involved the survey, inspection, maintenance and replacement of existing structures and equipment, as well as upgrading to more modern and efficient water treatment systems where required within the different water treatment works. This work applied to mechanical equipment, electrical equipment, instrumentation, control and automation equipment, as well as any civil assets and buildings on the sites.
Notable aspects of this project include functionality checks of Needle Valves at Silent Valley Impounding Reservoir; the replacement of large pumps such as the 250kW Lough Island Reavy Pump; and the replacement of the primary filter media and nozzles at Fofanny WTW.
