Caithness Moray HVDC Interconnector
Doran Consulting has been appointed by ABB to provide the Civil, Structural, Architectural, M&E and QS services for the new HVDC Link across the Moray Firth.
This project, with a total contract value of £1,223m, represents the largest investment in north Scotland’s electricity network since the hydro development era of the 1950s. It comprises of two land-based 320 kV HVDC Light converter stations, one rated 1,200 MW at Blackhillock in Moray and another rated 800 MW situated at Spittal in Caithness.
Our scope of services includes the following elements:
- HVDC Converter Station (AC Hall, DC Hall, Valve Halls, Reactor Hall, Plant rooms and Control Building)
- Spare parts/Storage Building
- Building Services (MEP)
- Transformer bunded plinths
- AC yard (Foundations/Ducting/Troughing)
- LV/MV plant and transformer Foundations/Plinths (for DNOand Auxiliary supply)
- Valve Cooler bunded plinths
- Diesel Generator bunded plinths
- HVAC Plinths (e.g. Air handling units)
- Ducts / Troughs and Trenches
- Drainage (Surface, Foul & Oily Water)
- Roads, Paths and Parking
- Site Lighting, Services & Finishes
