Water Supply System Design Service

Doran Consulting in recent years has been responsible for the design, preparation of contract documents and supervision of over 30 Water Main Replacement Contracts comprising over 70 schemes. The schemes consisted of the laying of ductile iron, MDPE and MOuPVC pipes in diameters ranging from 90mm to 600mm, with their associated connections.

In many cases, the time scale for undertaking the work has been particularly short and Doran Consulting has developed a team of engineers and technicians who pride themselves in their ability to achieve tender stage in less than 3 weeks for the majority of watermain schemes. The members of the team are experienced in dealing with the relevant statutory bodies and members of the public that may be affected by pipe laying schemes and in particular schemes in busy urban areas.

Appraisal reports have been prepared to facilitate strategic planning of complete water supply systems from the treatment plants, via the service reservoirs and trunk mains to the distribution networks. Team members are also proficient in the provision of detailed hydraulic models for Water Network Zonal Studies including system familiarisation, structural condition surveys of mains, collation of burst records, hydraulic model calibration and water quality surveys. These models are developed to investigative future network system improvements and developments for the future and to identify the investment necessary to ensure that water supply networks achieve and maintain regulatory standards and are operating as efficiently as possible.
