Lissue Road Widening, Lisburn
Doran Consulting was appointed by Coca Bottlers Ltd to provide civil engineering services for an improved access to their new manufacturing and bottling plant in Lisburn in accordance with a planning approval. The project comprised the design, site supervision and contract administration of the highway works.
The main elements of this project included improvements to an existing traffic signal controlled junction to provide a reconfigured layout, the introduction of a right turning lane and footway improvements, rephasing of traffic signals and 0.5km of carriageway widening including the provision of new footway and barrier controlled level crossing on Belfast to Dublin railway line.
The works were designed to adoption standards, constructed under licence agreement and required lengthy discussions and negotiations with the Roads Service. There were extensive service diversions for BT, NIE, NI Water in relation to sewers and for the Rivers Agency in relation to culverts. The scheme incorporated a reinforced concrete retaining wall and vehicle restraint barriers with the associated technical approvals. Land acquisition was required to deliver the widening works and we undertook extensive negotiations with landowners on behalf of our client.
Throughout the project, we worked closely with the client and design team to agree the works, compile co-ordinated specifications, determine phases and monitor progress against programme. We supplied full time site supervision to monitor the works and the quality of workmanship.
