Dundonald Leisure Park Belfast - Road Realignment & Infrastructure Development
Doran Consulting was commissioned by Castlereagh Borough Council to design the realignment of the Old Dundonald Road to facilitate the development of their new leisure park adjacent to the Dundonald International Ice Bowl.
The scheme included 500m of carriageway realignment, a 50m diameter 4-leg roundabout and a 10.5m span reinforced concrete portal underpass to serve the existing Dundonald International Ice Bowl and the Ten Pin Bowling complex and facilitates that were planned as part of a future development of the Dundonald Leisure Park.
The works had to be carried out while maintaining traffic flows on the main road. This initial phase also included the construction of a touring caravan park together with an internal site access road, car parking and all services.
For Phase 2 of the development, we provided the infrastructure for the David Lloyd Tennis and Leisure Club within the Leisure Park site. The works entailed site access roads, substantial earthworks, storm and foul drainage and the supply of water, electricity, mains gas and telecommunications.
