Civil and Structural Engineering Design for Primary/Secondary Schools

Doran Consulting has particular expertise in providing civil and structural engineering design advice in relation to the construction of establishments providing holistic educational services with therapeutic and nursing support to children with special educational needs of all age ranges.

We were commissioned to provide a full range of design services for Tor Bank School in east Belfast. Tor Bank provides educational services for pupils with a range of complex learning preferences and varying degrees of impairment to physical mobility. We provided a design that set out all the amenities on a single storey level throughout and utilised long span ‘ribbon’ windows to maximise use of natural light within the buildings. The school received a “Very Good” BREEAM rating in 2013.

Jordanstown School provides educational services for children who are deaf or visually impaired. We provided a full range of design services for a new, purpose-built school, which includes multisensory facilities providing the latest assistive technologies, a hydrotherapy pool and sports facilities for the pupils.
