Structural Steel Design Awards 2018

Doran Consulting’s Dr Paul Keown accepted a Commendation on behalf of the design team for the Extension to the Belfast Waterfront, at the Structural Steel Design Awards 2018 presentation evening held at Banqueting House, London on Wednesday 3rd October.
The Judges greatly admired the project, which includes conference halls, banqueting and break-out spaces and extends the Belfast Waterfront Conference Centre right up to the quay of the River Lagan. They felt the multiple challenges created by this riverside site, both physical and financial, were met by a sequence of appropriate and pragmatic structural steel and architectural solutions.
This was the 50th year of the Structural Steel Design Awards. They continue to celebrate excellence in the use of steel in structural and architectural design, rewarding project which are high quality in terms of efficiency, cost-effectiveness, aesthetics, sustainability and innovation.
