Project Summary
The Portavogie Harbour improvement works comprised repairs to approximately 200 metres of concrete and masonry breakwater, treatment and disposal of contaminated sediment, quay-wall strengthening and cathodic protection, and new inner-harbour pontoons and guide piles. The scope was informed by topographical and bathymetric surveys, underwater inspections, sediment testing and structural assessment.
Expertise & Delivery
The project was delivered through investigation, design, procurement and NEC contract administration, with marine and structural details developed for durability, constructability and future inspection in an exposed saline environment. Sequencing responded to tides, vessel movements, fishing operations and berth access, supported by liaison with the Harbour Master, users, stakeholders and contractors. Site supervision and underwater verification provided quality assurance and supported extension of asset life and improved harbour functionality.
