Project Summary
The redevelopment of Victoria Terminal 3 created a nine-hectare hinterland for Northern Ireland’s largest lift-on, lift-off container terminal. The works included four reinforced-concrete stacking areas with capacity for 7,920 TEUs, reefer towers serving 256 refrigerated containers, new roads, drainage, lighting and driver facilities.
Expertise & Delivery
The project was delivered through phased design, procurement and construction, with pavements and foundations engineered for concentrated crane and container loads and coordinated around specialist handling equipment and future flexibility. Phased delivery used temporary traffic routes, controlled work zones and sequenced handovers to protect vessel schedules, container movements and security. Crushed site paving was reused to reduce waste and new-material demand, while coordinated design risk, drainage, utilities, lighting, construction interfaces and quality control supported continued terminal operation throughout redevelopment.
