Doran Consulting provided CDM services for the new state-of-the-art teaching block at Ulster University’s Magee Campus which opened in January 2018.  The new building, attached to the existing library, provides an additional 4000 sq meters of floor space.  The accommodation is spread over four floors and includes lecture theatres, teaching rooms, open plan student hubs and a café.

Doran Consulting’s services on the project included advising on Design Risk Management (DRM), through design review workshops, to establish what risks and hazards had been eliminated by the Design Team and what control measures were proposed for the remaining residual risks.

Doran Consulting prepared and issued the Pre-Construction Information (PCI) to the Principal Contractor.  During the construction phase, on behalf of the Client, Doran Consulting continued to liaise with the Principal Contractor on design related issues.  This involved attendance at meetings and liaison with the Design Team (and members of the Principal Contractors Design Team) to ensure the overall H&S co-ordination between the permanent and temporary works design.

Doran Consulting developed H&S file information as the project progressed and a H&S File was produced at the end of the project.  Doran Consulting’s CDM services are managed through our BSI accredited Integrated Management System.
