Structure and Listed Building Refurbishment
Doran Consulting has provided design services for the refurbishment and repair of many of Belfast’s iconic structures and listed buildings. A prime example of this has been the company’s work on Belfast's 'leaning tower', the Albert Memorial Clock. The clock has an 890mm tilt towards the River Lagan. As part of a major refurbishment programme, Doran Consulting designed and supervised the underpinning scheme to stabilise the tower.
We are also recognised for our expertise in the conservation of historic and listed buildings and have provided design, restoration and refurbishment services for a number of historically important buildings including the Irish Linen Centre, which occupies the site of Lisburn’s 17th century Market House, the Ormeau Bakery development in South Belfast and Belfast’s City Hall.
We have also led a number of ecclesiastical refurbishment and repair projects, including major programmes to restore several iconic city centre churches, including St Malachy’s and St Thomas’, to their former Victorian splendour. Refurbishment was undertaken to clean and repair deteriorated original features, subsidence issues were addressed and necessary modernising features, such as disabled accessways, were added.
