Ebrington Public Realm Scheme
The Client: Construction and Procurement Delivery
Our roles: Project Manager, Civil Engineer, Structural Engineer, Principal Designer, Site Supervision, Traffic Consultant
Project Summary
The Ebrington Public Realm Scheme delivered accessibility and public-realm improvements that reconnect the former military site with neighbouring communities, transport links and emerging uses. The works included a signal-controlled entrance from the A2, an internal access road, more than 900 metres of shared footway and cycleway, an accessible car park, feature lighting, landscaping, street furniture and inclusive wayfinding.
Expertise & Delivery
The project was delivered through RIBA Stages 1–7. The new entrance required realignment of approximately 200 metres of the A2 and a MOVA signal-controlled junction with tactile paving, dropped kerbs, a pedestrian refuge and audible signals. Within the site, more than 900 metres of 3.5-metre shared footway and cycleway was vertically aligned to provide accessible routes to existing buildings, supported by a 55-space accessible car park. Further works included 30 bespoke lighting columns, more than 3,000 square metres of planting, sensory landscaping, contrasting sheltered seating and Braille and audio wayfinding.
