Michael joined Doran Consulting in 1994, was appointed Director in 2012 and became Managing Director in 2024. A highly experienced structural engineer, he has delivered projects across the education, healthcare, industrial and commercial sectors throughout the UK.
Michael has particular expertise in the energy sector, including High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) transmission links, and has overseen several major projects in this field. He also has significant experience in the design, alteration, extension and refurbishment of airport facilities across Northern Ireland and Great Britain.
In addition to his role as Managing Director, Michael is Doran Consulting’s Health & Safety Director and leads the company’s Construction Design & Management (CDM) services, overseeing a team of chartered CDM Advisors providing Principal Designer services. He is also a past Chair of the Institution of Structural Engineers (Northern Ireland & Ireland Region).
