We are inviting applications from promising and enthusiastic BEng / MEng Mechanical Engineering undergraduates for a Year Out Placement within our Water Team, commencing summer 2027.
As a busy and dynamic Civil and Structural Engineering Consultancy, our Water Team is a multidisciplinary team involved in a wide range of water and wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects across the UK and Ireland.
During your placement, you will have the opportunity to support the delivery of energy-efficient and low whole-life-cost projects at various stages of the project lifecycle, including feasibility, outline design and detailed design.
Placement students will gain practical experience supporting the development of mechanical engineering aspects of projects, with involvement in areas including preparing requests for quotations for mechanical process equipment, carrying out pump duty calculations, producing P&ID diagrams, and providing input to control philosophies and commissioning plans.
As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will also gain exposure to other aspects of Water Engineering. This may include project management and administration activities, reviewing client specifications, drafting site layouts and general arrangement drawings, and supporting CDM activities such as design risk assessments, design management plans and HAZOPs.
You will also have the opportunity to work alongside Civil and Process Engineers, gaining an understanding of how different engineering disciplines contribute to the delivery of water and wastewater projects.
This placement will provide an opportunity to develop your technical and professional skills, gain practical experience within an engineering consultancy and build an understanding of the project lifecycle.
