Summary

An overview of the key responsibilities, scope, and expectations for this role.

We are inviting applications from enthusiastic Mechanical Engineering students currently completing their final year of study, with a view to graduating in summer 2027, for a Graduate Mechanical Engineer position within our Water Team from summer/autumn 2027 onwards.

As a busy and dynamic Civil and Structural Engineering Consultancy, our Water Team is a multidisciplinary team involved in a wide range of water and wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects across the UK and Ireland.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the delivery of energy-efficient and low whole-life-cost projects at various stages of the project lifecycle, including feasibility, outline design and detailed design.

Graduate Mechanical Engineers will support the development of mechanical engineering aspects of projects, with involvement in areas including preparing requests for quotations for mechanical process equipment, pump duty calculations, producing P&ID diagrams, and providing input to control philosophies and commissioning plans.

As part of a multidisciplinary team, the role will also provide exposure to other areas of Water Engineering. This may include project management and administration, reviewing client specifications, drafting site layouts and general arrangement drawings, and supporting CDM activities including design risk assessments, design management plans and HAZOPs.

You will also have the opportunity to work alongside Civil and Process Engineers, gaining an understanding of how the different engineering disciplines contribute to the delivery of water and wastewater projects.

We provide regular training and development opportunities to support our graduate engineers as they progress their careers and work towards professional qualifications.
Applicants should be studying towards a BEng or MEng in Mechanical Engineering, with a good general academic background and an anticipated graduation date of summer 2027.
