Landmark Civic Building Engineering Design

Doran Consulting has a long history of providing design services on a range of landmark civic buildings including local council offices, court buildings, public libraries and community arts facilities.

Administrative buildings for which we have provided design services include the Laganside Courts in Belfast and Coleraine Council Offices. Both are landmark buildings in their respective local surroundings, built on sites which had their own particular challenges and constraints. The Coleraine Offices were built on a sloping riverside which required extensive earthworks, and the Laganside Courts were built in a busy city centre site in a high profile corridor of civic buildings, running from Belfast City Hall to the Waterfront Hall.

We also have expertise in providing a range of design services for prestigious local arts centres, including the Strule Arts Centre in Omagh and the Strabane Cultural & Arts Centre. Both centres are multi-purpose community arts facilities, each with its own auditorium, which were designed with specialised features to permit them to adapt to a variety of uses. Both complexes also encompass additional facilities providing a range of arts related activities for the local community including exhibition areas, galleries and social spaces. Strule Arts Centre won a host of awards on completion including the IStructE Centenary Award for Best Community Structure and the Royal Institute of British Architects Regional Award.
